You have been found, sir, handed over by Seetwist via dicetrain! I started out, a babe in the woods (hell, still am,) innocently photographing lumber- and boxcars standing on a little-used siding in the setting sun. Saw a white chalk (?) drawing of a feller in a big hat and be damned, was that a pipe he was smoking? A fellow pipe smoker, drawing himself on cars? WTF? And the legend beneath: "Colossus of Roads." I thought the artist was either a lousy speller or a wildly clever punster. I was a babe in the woods. *lol*
Many (not enough) sightings later I find you've been blogging since bloody '04, Dada Roads hisself, the artist and the scratcher on cars and the guy in the big beard, just north of me in a geographical sense.
Indeed I am a lousy speller and a poor punster. Even after nigh on to 36 years of scratching language on the boxcars those skills ain't improved much. Nor am I a smoker anymore. Nicotine gave me an edge, but swapped that for dull longevity, and the complexities of maintaining a pipe was beyond me juiced with coffee caffeine and tobacco sagacity when I did indulge.
You know, I still find the "complexities of maintaining a pipe" to be one of the great joys of my life. *grin*
So I have a question--came across The Icon with the caption "Join In The F.O. of F.O.B.C. + E". Now, I'm not one of those guys who has to have every little mystery explained, but...er...mind explaining that one?
Heh! Excellent, and thank you sir for the 'splaining! *tipping my hat* The reason I ask is not only for my photo and personal knowledge but another fellow who enjoys writing on boxcar walls had written "Sign me up!" to one side of your icon. Mebbe you two need to hook up?
Location: Surrealville, Principality of buZ, United States
I'm a retired railroad man who indulged in the folk art tradition of making chalk drawings on the railcars as an announcement of presence, and diversion from boredom. Although against the rules of the railroad, it was a common enough practice by the employees and hobos, by ignoring enforcement it was de facto tacit approval, for I dispatched drawings for 32 years of my 41 years of employment without interference. The initial purpose of this blog is to record the language used in my frequent boxcar icon dispatches.

An acronym for (to be delicate)
Join the Fraternal Order of F*#ked Over Brakemen, Conductors, & Engineers. A proposal for a new union.
